Bernard Komara’s utility and contract experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Nondestructive Testing spans a time frame of over thirty-five years. His expertise and field experience includes the areas of fabrication, construction, testing, maintenance, modifications, and operations performing assessments, hands-on QC/NDT, testing, and training in heavy industry, electrical manufacturing, and commercial fossil/nuclear power plants. He has a B.S. degree and twenty years experience as a QA/QC/NDE Supervisor of direct and contract personnel in the nuclear industry. Activities have been performed in accordance with Federal Regulations; applicable codes/standards and specifications including ASME, ANSI, AISC, IEEE, NEC, AWS, ACI, MIL, ISO and ASTM; and project/facility procedures.

He currently holds the following qualifications/certifications: AWS Certified Welding Inspector; ANSI N45.2.6 Level III QA/QC Inspector (Mechanical, Welding, Electrical/I&C, I&C, Civil/Structural, Material Receipt, Calibration, Leak Rate Test); EPRI/SNT-TC-1A/CP-189 Level III Visual Examiner (VT 1-3, VT Containment); SNT‑TC-1A/CP-189 Level II/III Nondestructive Examiner: Visual Weld, VT 1-3, VT-Containment, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Ultrasonic Test; ANSI N45.2.23 Certified Lead Auditor; EPRI Qualified NDT Instructor; and Certified QA/QC/NDT Instructor.

He has been affiliated with ASQ, ASNT, and the industry Nuclear Oversight Organization since its inception in the early 1980’s as an organization for Quality Supervisors. Previously, as a multi-site utility employee, and currently as NIC Quality Services and Training Manager, Mr. Komara has worked extensively with utilities and suppliers to develop and conduct QA/QC/NDE/Engineering and Craft Technical Training programs utilizing INPO Guidelines and the Systematic Approach to Training process. He also shares responsibility for the selection, certification, placement and management of QC/NDE personnel and field inspection activities, supporting technical, administrative and logistical issues.
